14 - Nicole's Resilient Adoption Narrative

On the same day as our interview, Nicole receives an unexpected phone call from her birth mom. Nicole rallies up the straight to ask her birth mom an important question.

Nicole was raised in a suburb of IL along with her younger brother Joey who was adopted from Guatemala. She opens up about her adolescent years filled with the struggles of various medical conditions and learning disabilities. Nicole has overcome barriers no one should ever have to face. She’s persistent, positive and selflessly gives her energy and time to those who need it most.

We met Nicole on our first journey to Peru! We went with a wonderful group called The Ties Program. (https://www.adoptivefamilytravel.com/) They're dedicated to connecting adoptees to their birth country and went above and beyond with organizing our first trip to Peru. We gained lifelong connections to other adoptees and are forever grateful for everyone we met along the way.
